Help needed desperately...

Hi!
I have a problem and I hope to find help here!
I'm running debian etch ppc with yaboot. I installed a new kernel from the
debian repositories, but could only boot the old kernel, so I changed things
in /etc/yaboot.conf and now it won't boot at all... I probably got the device
wrong...

For some reason the ibook doesn't boot from rescue cds either (though it
starts reading the cds, but then not much happens).
So I read that it must be possible to start from the boot prompt.

I tried boot: hd:3,/vmlinux root=/dev/mapper/biala-root (for my
paranoia-encrypted lvm, *grmpf*)
It looks like a good start but tells me about a kernel panic:
"no file system could mount root" blabla VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block

I tried boot: hd:3,/vmlinux root=/dev/mapper/biala-root
initrd=initrd.img-2.6.24-1-powerpc. same result.

How can I tell it to find the cryptosetup and lvm-thing??? I would be so
grateful if someone had an answer to this!

greetings,
silke

the last backup of the yaboot.conf that I have is the following: I was only
able to boot the old kernel with boot: old

#newworld boot partition:
boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci at f4000000/ata-6 at d/disk at 0:
partition=3
root=/dev/mapper/biala-root
timeout=50
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
enablecdboot
enablenetboot

image=/vmlinux
	label=Linux
	read-only
	initrd=/initrd.img

image=/vmlinux.old
	label=old
	read-only
	initrd=/initrd.img.old
