Yep.


Both RHEL 7.5 LE for Power8 and RHEL-Alt 7.5 LE for Power9 will run fine in
a Power9 PowerVM LPAR.

The Power8 base will come up in p8compat mode - your example.

The Power9 base will come up in P9 mode.



Yes...  the RHEL-Alt 7.5 version is *specifically* intended for Power9
bare-metal and KVM host support.

That bare-metal support enables Nvidia Volta NVLink2 support.
