Trouble with booting Debian Etch

I realized that my image= and such settings were pointing at the wrong
paths, so I updated them. However, now when I try to boot it goes to a
gray screen and just sits there. I've re-checked my yaboot.conf file
over and over, re-run mkofboot and ybin after I've made any changes to
it, and still no joy.
Is there something else I'm missing?
