Cross compiling the kernel

Hello,

The URL http://penguinppc.org/embedded/cross-compiling shows how to cross-compile the kernel for a 32-bit powerpc machine, namely, from an ix86 machine. I successfully built the toolchain for a ppc64 on an i686 (Pentium III) for both passes 1 & 2. However, I am not succeeding at compiling the kernel. Can anyone share their experiences with me on that? i.e. what sequence of steps would be required to accomplish this task?
