CY7C9536 POSIC2GVC driverporting for ppc_8xx

Hi,
I have a driver for the Cypress CY79536 POSIC2GVC chip that works with
the monitor program (No RTOS). I need to port this driver to work with
MontaVista Embedded Linux for ppc_8xx. I am new to driver porting. Has
anyone done anything similar? Will appreciate any help in this regard.
