reading GPIO , ppc440 from user space

Hi

Is there any way for me to read GPIO from the user
land I tried to
use devmem2.c but it is not working for meIs it even
possible in 440
architecture to do the similiar stuff. I mean can I
use /dev/mem and
mmapto read GPIO . The example code that I found if
for 32 bit (arm)the
GPIO control registers that I have is 36 bit value.
Please let me know
what is the simplest way to read GPIO from user space
fpr ppc 440
architecture. Thanks a lot
