Sorry for not contributing this information.

The "Machine check" doesn't throws me into xmon, so I placed an
xmon(0); in init/main.c just before execve("/sbin/init" ...

Everything looks ok there, but when I use the 's' command to go
to the next instruction I get the machine check:
