[Cbe-oss-dev] ps3-boot-game-os, magic_num error, and ps3-flash-util

hi everyone,

first of all, hello :)

i recently installed ps3-utils v2.2.0 onto my debian ps3, after upgrading
to a 2.2.26 kernel. i get the following error when i run ps3-boot-game-os:

ps3-debian[/home/seanius/ps3-utils] sudo ps3-boot-game-os :)
os_area_db_verify:740 magic_num failed
os_area_db_read:519: invalid db header
reboot

i found the previous email on this list about needing to run ps3-flash-util,
so i ran "ps3-flash-util -F" and rebooted. everything seems to work fine now,
but i have a few questions:

- why not a more descriptive error message/hint?

- is this a one-time operation that should be done as part of installation?
the previous version of ps3-utils/ps3pf-utils did not seem to have a problem
(or at least it didn't care). i will likely be contributing changes to the
debian-installer related to the ps3 so it'd be good to know.

- also, maybe this is unrelated, but after upgrading to 2.2.0 my controllers
no longer seem to work after booting back into the ps3 OS. i can't imagine
why one would cause the other and maybe it was something else... but has
  anyone seen this problem?

thanks!

	sean
