Greg's post is good and raises many points that must be addressed.
Thank God people are willing to think & talk about AUUG again!

Before the *lists* get too far along in their discussions, I'd like to
suggest that the 24 (?) current/financial AUUG members be polled for
their views. NOT a formal vote, but a poll - outside the constitution,
so it is non-binding and can be done informally/electronically.

These are the people who's views *matter* - that have to vote in the
end. The 'chattering classes' like me on the list who, whilst I might
have been a Foundation Member, aren't financial and I DONT VOTE - what I
say might be interesting, but in the end, is irrelevant.

Somebody on the list must know of some lightweight 'polling' tool.
Even an "AUUG-poll" list would do...

Set your own rules. Especially about non-votes.
Allow Proxies for people "off-net".
But short timeframes (24 hrs) for polls are needed to provide feedback
in good time to AUUG-Talk

For the rest of us on AUUG-Talk, we really need to know the *voters*
views on the issues Greg has raised, not anything else.
