Yes, there are several free distross you can run. Fedora, Gentoo,
Debian, etc.

Right, this is not the best list to ask these kind of questions on. IBM
is running a web forum at:

There are also other resources that you can find on
http://penguinppc.org/.

Also, depending on which distro you choose to go with, most of them have
their own mailing lists for the PPC architecture, you'll find those
lists better when it comes to getting installation or usage help.
