As I understand it, the slot-label property is used to name the
directories in /sys/bus/pci/slots. This is then read by lscpi and used
to generate the location output. There was some discussion on an
internal bugzilla about making slot-label the location code to match the
behaviour of pHyp.
I understand you particuarly want to make slot-label just the part of
the location code that is unique to the slot. I agree that the short
part makes more sense, but I wonder if pHyp compatiblity is a worthwhile
goal here?
