Agree with Johannes. This would be a lot of work for upstream patchwork
and the client approach would scale much better. If you decide to
follow this approach, I recommend keeping an eye on the REST API work
which should make it into the next release. Alternatively, you might
check out Gerrit if you're happy to modify your workflow somewhat.
