There is a ticket for creating sorting of the tables. Currently, the
markup used to create that UI isn't using an HTML <table> element. It
is using a series of <div> elements. I'd like to see this changed at
some point as well. I do think we should be creating our own solution
and not relying on an external library. Most often these libraries
attempt to solve all problems for all people resulting in extraneous
code and the need to try and resolve issues such as accessibility and
styling.
