[NEMO-devel] upgrading to Python 3

Hi.

Python 2 will be no longer maintained from next year (see
https://pythonclock.org/), so it's time to finally migrate NEMO to
Python 3. All of the packages NEMO depends on are available in Python
3, so I have just made the required code changes to make NEMO itself
Python 3 compliant.

The code changes are in a "2to3" branch on Github. Once I've had some
time to get back to it and check everything over, I will merge this
work into the master branch.

I would ordinarily ask if anyone has any objections to moving from 2
to 3, but there's really no choice!
