[Linuxppc-users] RHEL8 at Power8

Hi all!

Maybe I'm doing something totally wrong..but anyways, need to check what to get on the right track. (

So what I'm trying is to start creating an installation image of RHEL8 on Power8 HW.

HW: 8286-41A (IBM Power System S814) 
Firmware:FW860.70
Installation binary: rhel-8.0-ppc64le-dvd.iso

I set the ISO file to VIOS optical library; and tried so boot my image partition from DVD via that--and got this:

The incident generated also HMC home call; so obviously something didn’t go as smoothly as one would have expected.
Any ideas for the root cause? 

Some guesses:
- my RHEL ISO file is wrong => is the some own "Power8 dedic" ISO at Redhat site ? (similarly as there was the Altenate package for RHEL 7.5 for Power9)
-VIOS optical library has some limitation for max 4GB files (the RHEL iso image is 6GB) => this causes some issues?
-Something else..? ( 
 
Or should I try to create the image at Power9 HW ?
