Require info regarding the flow of uart driver in linux for mpc8260

Hi,
I am a fresher in device driver development. Currently I am involve in 
developing the uart driver in linux for a custom board of mpc8260. I am 
confused about tty and console in the code uart.c . I will be very 
grateful if any one can clear my confusion.
