what 's Kernel stack overflow?

on our custom MPC823e board, running kernel is linux-2.4.4-2002-03-21.tar.bz2,
which is downloaded at denx's ftp. we have ported qt-embedded-free-3.0.5.
"hello" demo works well at first, but it died after running about one hour.
Not only that demo but also the whole system .
