Whate kind of kernel errors cause an Segmentation Fault

"Segmentation Fault" gets printed when a SIGSEGV is sent to a process.
Look in arch/ppc/kernel for SIGSEGV. Two exceptions I know will cause
it are Machine-check and Alignment.
