Well that's a big dilemma.  Surely you want a stable driver and don't
want to see the flood of bug reports.

The mixer stuff is the weakest point in the current ALSA
implementation, and it has to be sorted out better.
Almost all existing mixer GUI programs are more or less buggy or quite
user-unfriendly.
