specifically jdk 1.4 (let's try this again)

For some reason my previous query instantly turned into a thread about
jdk1.3, jits etc.   Let me try again.  I'm asking specifically (and
only) about jdk1.4 in ppc linux.  A project I'm working on has already
made the switch from 1.3 to 1.4 and I'm trying to get some kind of
estimate of how long I'm sol as long as I work in ppc linux and/or osx.

Anyone?
