Hello Sam,

I've done a very quick count, but I can't really confirm your statement
that CCAN authors in general (which I assume you meant by 'you') prefer the
GPL, at least not when you count by module.

     23 BSD-MIT
     20 LGPL-2.1
     19 CC0
      8 GPL-2
      6 GPL-3
      5 LGPL-3
      3 BSD-3CLAUSE

>From what I've seen, everyone seems to have picked the license that they
felt best reflects their interests in sharing the code. I'm sure every
module author has put quite some time in deciding which license to go with,
balancing the pros and cons of each approach, especially the ones who
expressly chose a more copyleft license like the GPL. A blanket-statement
'everybody must use license x' would not do that justice, I think.

I'm sure that, if there's a specific GPL'ed module that you want to use,
you can just contact the author and come to an agreement.

Cheers,
Wander

(Disclaimer: I'm not Rusty, or even a contributor, or even a user, I just
follow the ML.)
