[Cbe-oss-dev] Development environment

Hello cbe-oss-dev,

I would like to contribute to linux on the ps3, but I am having trouble
setting up the development environment. I am currently running red ribbon
linux on a fat (nand) ps3, installed on a usb drive. It has a 3.12 kernel
with patches (but I cannot find the source of this kernel with pathes
anywhere?).

I would like to play with the rsx, but first I would like to get a mainline
kernel running. So I compiled and installed mainline v4.1 kernel and
modules on the ps3:
make ps3_defconfig
make
make install
make modules_install
make headers_install

This gives me a 74MB vmlinux (is it supposed to be so huge?). It shows up
in petitboot, but when I try to boot it hangs at "system is going down
now...". There are a few udevd-event messages ending with "failed:
Read-only file system". The usb drive is powered off, and then nothing...

Is this the right place to ask/discuss? Any help would be appreciated.
