[Cbe-oss-dev] Framebuffer Video Playback

I am aware that access to the RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' is blocked by
a hypervisor.
Is the hardware that we are provided with powerful enough to output a
720p film to the framebuffer?

I tried to use mplayer:
mplayer -vo fbdev foo.mpg

Not only was there video and audio stuttering, the application told me
itself that my "system was too slow".

Should I try allocating more memory to the frame buffer?
Should I try using a library such as DirectFB for video output?

Or is the hardware I am provided with just not powerful enough to output 720p?
