I copied the apnet.[hc] from the 2.6.32 tree into the 2.6.30 tree and 
rebuilt modules.  Before I had only copied the axon driver.  The apnet 
interface now don't freeze as above.   The remaining mystery is why 
2.6.32 fails as it did..
