Hi I'm not sure that kboot not being included in Debian images is the
problem as you can still use the official Debian images to install Debian on
the PS3. All that is needed is to have the vmlinux file from the addon CD on
external storage media like a USB stick or memory stick and do sdx:(where
"x" is the location of the media containing the vmlinux file)/vmlinux
initrd=/install/powerpc/initrd.gz For example, if I have a Micro SD card and
it has the vmlinux file, I would do sdb:/vmlinux
initrd=/install/powerpc/initrd.gz to stat the Debian installer on the PS3. I
belive that Fedora does not have the kboot bootloader in it's images but I
believe that it still works out the box. I am not sure of this as I have not
tested if this is so. I think the vmlinux in the Debian images need to be
adjusted somehow in order for it to insall on the PS3 out of the box. Also
with the release candadate 1 of the Debian installer, I think it is now
possible to install Debian using only a memory stick or USB stick by
downloading the initrd.gz file from the Debian release candidate installer
page along with the mini.iso file and the vmlinux file from the add on CD
and putting all three files on the USB or memory stick. The command to
install from USB or memory stick is a bit different. To install from USB or
memory stick at kboot, do sdb:/vmlinux initrd=sdb:/initrd.gz On my system,
sdb is where my Micro SD card is and sdd1 is where my USB is.
