In addition to the broadcast modes, the PS3 supports WXGA (1280x768), SXGA
(1280x1024), and WUXGA (1920x1200) for otheros (i.e. Linux :-).

Try

    ps3-video-mode -v 13

after booting, or booting with

    video=wuxga

for WUXGA.
