Thank you, that did the trick (I knew it was some kind of a dumb
mistake :(, heh).

I placed that line in the same place it was before (it did not have
the -a option): /etc/rc.local

It works like a charm in both text mode and Xorg although the black
margins seem different between the two modes... what
I am happy about is that the black borders around the picture now are
at a very bearable minimum :).
