I'm happy for this to go into 2.6.23 (it's in my queue & seems to work 
fine), but could I get a more clear changelog? The patch doesn't 
indicate that there are new situations where the affinity reference 
point is set, only that we're using a different reference context.

Something like:
 * how the current code is broken; and
 * why this fixes it.
