Note: these patches all apply fine on powerpc.git#master, or on a merged
linux-2.6.git#master + powerpc.git#for-2.6.23, but not on #for-2.6.23
or linux-2.6.git by itself.

If you'd like a git tree from me, please tell me which branch to base
it on.
