I've simplified the testcase, and sending it as an attachment.

As you can see, just spu_in mbox is used. To reproduce the bug, just run 
the program using as parameter a number a little bigger than the number 
of the present spes, to make sure the backing operation is used.

Like:
] spu_mailbox 20 # qs20
] spu_mailbox 10 # simulator
