Have you waited some time, e.g. 2-3 min, at this point. It unfortunately 
can take this time and only SEEMS to hang, but actually does not.

This is probably related to not updating the H8 firmware

I would suggest to contact your hardware supplier to provide you with the 
newest level of firmware and instructions how to install it. I am not sure 
that a OSS list is the right place to ask these questions.

Depending on at which stage the output is garbled, it can help to enable 
8bit characters in your terminal emulator (for example with minicom: 
"minicom -8")
