I would like to see a splash screen on boot, similar to the Apple BootX splash screen, rather than the standard text prompt. Perhaps a keystroke would kill the splash and allow control of boot parameters. Perhaps something even more sophisticated could eventually be developed for a GUI selection of boot devices, similar perhaps to the OS 9 loader of old.</DIV><DIV><BR class="khtml-block-placeholder"></DIV><DIV>Now, I realize this is pure window-dressing, and that yaboot targets more than PPC Macs, but I think it would be a classy touch for those running yaboot on their PPC Macs. As I said, I'm willing to put some time into this myself, but I just don't know exactly where to begin. I've browsed a bit of the BootX code, and think I've identified the code responsible for displaying the gray logo. BootX is open source, but I'm not certain of the license right off.
